That's when most of the old merry-go-rounds began to disappear from boardwalks all over America, including New Jersey.
Seaside's almost went too.
The owners wanted to sell.
But instead, Moreland approached the owners, and volunteered to refurbish it, free of charge.

The result was so spectacular that the machine was instantly renamed the Floyd L.

Moreland reached out to the community: he got people to "sponsor" horses, and held special events for subscribers, and eventually opened a carousel gift shop with his partner, Elaine Bradford.
They'd have a name they wanted — the name of a husband or a wife or a dead child.
That's what we'd name the horse.
